Welcome to the official Chalgrove Parish Council
website. Please use the tabs on the left to navigate through the various
sections. The Parish of Chalgrove consists of some 1115 hectares and is situated about 10 miles south-east of Oxford. As well as Chalgrove Village it embraces the small settlements of Rofford, part of Cutt Mill and the former parish of Warpsgrove with which it merged in 1932. Chalgrove's centre is the Village Green and War Memorial where thatched cottages cluster around. The Chalgrove brook runs the length of the High Street, while the 'back' brook circles the Village to the South. Building mainly occured in the 1960s and a large selection of different types of property is now represented. |

| The current population
is 2909 according to the last official census in 2001 and a third of
this number is made up of children under 18 years of age. Chalgrove is blessed with many gems - a church dating from the Norman times with the best fourteenth century wall paintings in England, a well restored manor house dating from the thirteenth century and an English Civil War Battlefield of 1643 that is listed on the English Heritage's Battlefield Register. |
